The project carves into the pitched roof tradition of the location and extends views out towards the lake, taking a modern day twist on the established constructing typology. This beginning point sparked an iterative design approach involving creating orientation, openings, sunlight and materiality, to negotiate a quantity of factors in the style of a straightforward dwelling with dynamic spatial qualities. In a website-certain strategy, views are directed towards desired areas along the lake whilst adding headroom for the programmatic functions beneath the pitched roof. Components of addition in the rectangular dormers permit the boathouse to inhabit the maximum building area, even though balanced with an element of subtraction in the second floor deck. The elevations are regarded as as a wrapping of material integrating openings and cut outs of contrasting material adding to the dialogue amongst developing elements.
