Kensington Residence

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;">Last year, we brought to your attention a LEED certified residence we designed in Grosse Pointe Park, MI called the Kensington. This beautiful <a href="http://visbeen-associates-architects.blogspot.com/2011/07/infill-home-designs.html?utm_source=Blog&utm_medium=Blog&utm_campaign=Infill%2Bpost%2Blink%2Bin%2BKensington%2Bphotos">infill</a> design is now fully completed, so here are the finished photos. A few words about this design...</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;"><br /><br /></span></div><div><p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 16.0px 'Times New Roman'"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;color:#666666;">Who says they don’t make them like the used to? This charming Craftsman-inspired design, built to fit into an established city neighborhood but at home anywhere, proves otherwise. Double columns and three inset windows flank the entranceway, which leads into a classic Four-Square floor plan. The foyer, with its classic wooden staircase, leads to the living, dining and kitchen area on one side, and the den and hearth room on the other. The design and classic screened-in porch take its cues from the past, but the open kitchen and hearth room reflect today’s casual lifestyles. Upstairs is the master suite, four additional family bedrooms and three convenient baths. </span></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;"><br /><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;">For more information on the Kensington, visit our other blog entries on this home:</span></div><div><a href="http://visbeen-associates-architects.blogspot.com/2011/02/grosse-pointers-build-certified-earth.html?utm_source=Blog&utm_medium=Blog&utm_campaign=Detroit%2Bpub%2Blink%2Bin%2BKensington%2Bphotos"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;">Detroit News Article on LEED certified home</span></i></a></div><div><a href="http://visbeen-associates-architects.blogspot.com/2010/03/leed-certification.html?utm_source=Blog&utm_medium=Blog&utm_campaign=LEED%2Bcertification%2Blink%2Bin%2BKensington%2Bphotos"><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;">LEED certification</span></i></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;"><br /><br /></span><div></div><div><br /><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW-BzYjeOgBm2K7WBUngQdm0qGHHOHpNwQXaXNS2eF4y1mOkru19NXZZNXKimoSbRtVVzAaKhaAZ8mUS93tkJIB4qXsIiA2nebcraWJu82mWAlTmeki2xEaAY4S5Ezyn9o9M_CpI7LXjfH/s1600/1-IMG_2647.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5640908062276915730" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW-BzYjeOgBm2K7WBUngQdm0qGHHOHpNwQXaXNS2eF4y1mOkru19NXZZNXKimoSbRtVVzAaKhaAZ8mUS93tkJIB4qXsIiA2nebcraWJu82mWAlTmeki2xEaAY4S5Ezyn9o9M_CpI7LXjfH/s320/1-IMG_2647.jpg" style="display:block; LEED Certification

<div>The Kensington residence is under construction with <a href="http://www.insigniahomes.us/">Insignia Homes</a> up in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. It was designed and is being built to qualify for <a href="http://www.usgbc.org/DisplayPage.aspx?CMSPageID=147">LEED certification</a>, just as the sign photographed below states. What is LEED certification?<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"> </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;">LEED for Homes is a rating system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes.
